Welcome to Gordon-Smith Modern Automobile Classics

“modern and future classics prepared for sale by an enthusiast”

We are a classic car sales business concentrating on modern motor cars from the 1970's to the 1990's. Our aim is to provide motor cars that are prepared and presented to a high standard, making them suitable for every day use, or as a basis for a show car where appropriate, and hopefully save them from the knackers yard! Occasionally we have other automobile related items for sale. The Mercedes-Benz 300se shown on the home page is my personal car and is not for sale.

We are based between Bury St.Edmunds, and Ipswich and within easy reach of the A14 and therefore other major trunk roads and travel links. Please do look at our 'Cars for Sale' link above for high quality photographs.

Whilst we are open 7 days a week for calls we prefer for viewings to generally be from Friday to Monday including the weekend subject to prior arrangement. Please contact me either via my contact page or preferably  on 07764151547 for a no obligation appointment to view.

Part exchange taken of the sort of cars we sell and offers invited where there is no part exchange! All our prices include a pre-delivery check by our independent motor engineer. Cars of the sort we sell from the 1980s to 1995 purchased for cash

Please see 'Cars for Sale' for details of all our cars for sale.

Granada Scorpio £3500

Ford Granada Scorpio ( first registered 1st May 1992) unfinished project, complete with another M reg 1994 Granada Scorpio for spares, for the bits of trim needed to finish, which I found impossible to find by themselves.

As with any Scorpio, the car comes with air conditioning, electric windows, heated front seats, electric rear seat (which was working), electric sunroof, front and rear fog lights, automatic gearbox.

Two previous owners to myself, with the second having owned the car from February 1993 to May 2013 when I acquired the car. Whilst the car has done nearly 106k miles, the engine was replaced with a new one at 90k, so has only done 16k miles and as a result runs both quietly and smoothly as you would expect with such low mileage.

Over the past few years, I have had the car completely mechanically overhauled, re-sprayed, with both sills replaced, and new headlining. When the car was re-sprayed the sills were also sprayed to match the bodywork. The sunroof was not working when I bought the car, and after a lot of effort is now fully functional. In addition I managed to find a full set of five cosworth alloys, which have been re-furbished to as new standard, and fitted with new pirelli tyres, along with new locking wheel nuts, and which have travelled less than 100 miles since then. In addition I had the air conditioning converted to use modern gas. The car has been in storage for the past 18 months, and when put into storage the MOT had no advisories.

The car comes with almost FSH, and masses of bills from the second owner for services and other work completed over the years, as well almost all the old mots back to the first one in 1995.

The spares car is an MOT failure when I bought it, although it did drive to where it is currently parked, and I did get it running recently, but is no longer driveable. As a 1994 car it has colour coded wing mirrors and door handles, which could be re-sprayed and fitted to the J reg car, along with other bits of trim. I also have the last two bits of brand new door trim I was able to buy from a Ford main dealer. The interior on my car which is a blue velour whilst useable, could do with being upgraded, either from the spares car (which is also cloth), or if the new owner wanted to, with a repacement leather interior.

Both cars come with their radio codes and I also have the key code for the j reg car.

£3,500 for both cars or a sensible near offer.

626 LX Saloon £1395

Mazda 626 1.8 LX five speed manual saloon in metallic emerald silver which was in the same family ownership since 1991, and currently has just under 86k miles, and was in regular use until 2013, when it was put into dry storage, although regularly taken out for short runs.

Since my purchase I have had the car MOTed, serviced, with new front brake pipes and pads. the underneath has also been waxoiled to protect the more explosed areas.

According to the previous owner the car had a new front exhaust pipe in 2009 with a rear silencer box in 2011 and two new tyres in 2013. He also had the bonnet re-sprayed in the correct colour code as it was beginning to fade in 2008.

Overall the car is in very good condition for its age, with the interior cloth undamaged. the only slight issue is off side rear wheel arch has slight surface rust, as shown in the photographs. Although the LX model, it still came with rear fog lights, heated rear window, remote opening for the boot and petrol cap. in addition the split rear seats fold down giving extra boot space when required.

Running well and an ideal first classic and/or usable everyday car.

Complete with owners handbook, service book, some old records and old MOT's. Price includes a fresh valet on sale.

Alto £1295

The bodywork is in good condition for the car's age, and the interior looks to be very good.  The car comes with is original owners manual, and still has its dealer supplied numbers plates. The car comes with its stamped  service history to April 2005 along with Mot's to support the milage being only 10,000 by that date, in twenty years!. In the subsequent years the mileage has risen to 27k, supported by further Mot's. The last MOT which ran out on the  7 May 2014, had the only  only advisory as a very small windscreen chip.

The engine when i got the car had been partly dismantled, and is now being put back into working order, by a professional mechanic and will get a fresh mot on sale.

An inexpensive first classic.
